On September 23, 2023, the Daily Echo reported a fire at a farm in North Dorset, UK.
The Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service reported that a grain dryer ignited during the drying procedure. After receiving an alert at 6.40 p.m., two teams from Blandford and another from Shaftesbury rushed to the scene.
Firefighters, equipped with breathing gear, used hoses to put out the fire. A representative from Blandford Fire Station commented, “When we arrived, we found 20 tons of barley on fire inside the grain dryer.”
They further noted that after extinguishing the flames, crews stayed on-site to ensure the removed barley was thoroughly dampened down.
