Incident Description:
On September 1, 2023, the Clinton Herald reported an explosion and fire at a feed manufacturer in Clinton, Iowa.
Upon receiving reports of an explosion and smoke, the Clinton and Camanche fire departments were called at 9:21 p.m. to address a bone meal silo fire. The City of Clinton announced that the Clinton Fire Department arrived with two ladder trucks, an engine, and two ambulances.
After ensuring all employees were safe, a second alert was issued for a drone team’s assistance. The fire teams established a boundary and began suppression efforts, while the company team proceeded to empty the silo.
Firefighters remained on-site for approximately two and a half hours before handing over control to the staff.
No injuries were reported.
