Incident Description:
On August 4, 2023, Radio Canada reported a fire at a construction waste management company in Saint-Alphonse, Quebec.
The fire ignited at around 3:00 p.m. in a pile of wood construction waste. Fifty firefighters from various regions responded, establishing trenches to halt the fire’s spread and utilizing air tankers to douse surrounding forests.
Although the fire is now under control and primarily contained to construction debris, the flames and a significant plume of smoke were still visible the following day. Firefighters anticipated working a few more days to fully extinguish the flames.
No injuries were reported.
