Incident Description:
On July 31, 2023, PressePortal reported a fire at a grain mill in Inneringen, Germany.
The incident occurred shortly after 7:00 a.m. when the operator activated a grain dryer. The fire likely started due to a technical malfunction, igniting the grain in the drying circuit. Initially, the flames were contained to the lower section of the mill complex, but later spread to the upper floor. Adjacent to this area, there was a grain store holding roughly 70 to 80 tons of rapeseed, where additional fire nests were discovered.
Over 100 firefighters from the volunteer brigades of neighboring communities were mobilized to respond to the fire. They worked throughout the day and were successful in putting out both the flames and the smouldering embers by late afternoon.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident but damages came to 40,000 euros.
