Incident Description:
On July 5, 2018, the news agency Corriere Adriatico reported a silo fire at a furniture manufacturer in Ripatransone, Italy. The contents of the structure, which is located over the carpentry shop, were believed to have overheated and caught fire, causing smoke to issue from it and creating concerns about an explosion.
Five fire trucks arrived soon after 2:00 p.m. They surrounded the silo on three of its four sides and applied water using a new 37-meter-tall electronic ladder and a tanker capable of carrying seven thousand litres of water. Once the fire subsided the fire crews applied a foam to some still-glowing embers that had survived the hose-down.
No injuries were reported and the extent of any property damage is unknown.
