Company Description:
According to the company website, Seneca Sawmill started in 1954, when it produced only 18 million feet of lumber. Today it has three mills in Eugene, Oregon and one in Noti, with a collective production level of over 650 million board feet. Its timber division is managed by Seneca Jones Timber Company and steam for dry kilns comes from the Seneca Sustainable Energy facility. It currently delivers lumber by truck and van to 48 states and dock facilities.
Incident Description:
On September 3, 2018, news agency KEZI reported an early morning sawdust fire at a sawmill in Eugene, Oregon. Firefighters joined mill employees in containing the fire, which broke out at 3:00 a.m. and was finally under control before 6:00 a.m. The property owners remained on the scene for a while afterward to monitor for hot spots.
The local fire chief confirmed that the fire did little damage. There were no injuries reported and the extent of any property damage is unknown.

An establishment search turned up five OSHA inspections for Seneca Sawmill but none of the incidents were flagged for combustible dust.
