Incident Description:
On March 1, 2023, WAVY reported a grain dryer fire at an agribusiness in Chesapeake, Virginia.
The call came in around 7:42 a.m. after employees reported a fire in one of the grain dryers. When firefighters arrived, they found smoke and flames from a large tower where dry soybeans are stored before being shipped out.
According to the Chesapeake Fire Department, hose lines were deployed on elevated floors using a system of standpipes. Once the dryer had been emptied, the fire was completely put out.
The fire was under control by 8:29 a.m. No injuries were reported.
