Incident Description:
On December 30, 2022, Feed and Grain reported a fire at a grain elevator in Bentley, Alberta.
At around 1:30 a.m. on December 23, emergency crews were notified that the grain elevator was on fire. When fire crews arrived, the grain elevator was completely engulfed in flames. Frosty temperatures and wind chills of -50 degrees F caused the hydrant, hoses, and lines in the truck to freeze. Despite these challenges, containment efforts were immediately undertaken to prevent the fire from spreading.
The fire continued to smoulder on December 28. The cause is still under investigation.
No injuries were reported.
