Incident Description:
On August 13, 2018, the Coast Reporter reported a small fire near Twin Creeks, British Columbia. A spokesperson for Wildfire Service’s Coastal Fire Centre stated that it was discovered at 5:48 a.m. and soon put out. Although there were initial concerns that the flames heralded an upcoming wildfire, it never developed into anything more than a spot fire.
The source was identified as “hog fuel,” a wood waste product from a chipper or mill. The Coastal Fire Centre representative said that someone had left a pile of wood debris that probably ignited due to the heat.
