Description
An outdoor dust collector exploded at the plant injuring four workers. One of the workers was treated at the scene and the other four were transported to hospital with burn injuries. The workers were reported to be inside the facility at the time of the explosion although the specific cause of injury is not reported.
The explosion was reported to have occurred from an accumulation of dust in the ventilation filter system. The ignition source is unknown and the specific dust involved in the explosion has not been released. The UTC aerospace plant makes sensors and safety systems for aerospace and defence industries. A search of the company website shows several metal products, acoustic paneling and advanced composites. It is currently unclear what product lines are manufactured at the Vermont plant and what material was involved in the dust collector explosion.
