Incident Description:
On April 4, 2022, The Press and Journal reported an explosion at a wood processing plant in Inverness, Scotland, UK.
After receiving reports of a fire at the mill around 5.30 p.m., six fire appliances and two additional support appliances were dispatched to the scene. Videos on social media showed thick plumes of smoke surrounding the site. Police were also on hand to assist the fire service as crews extinguished the flames with eight breathing apparatus and two hose reel jets.
The company’s spokeswoman said that emergency procedures were immediately activated when employees heard an explosion in the conveyor area.
No injuries were reported and the mill is still operational. The cause of the explosion is under investigation.
