Incident Description:
On January 22, 2022, The Leader reported a fire at a paper mill in Port Townsend, Washington.
East Jefferson Fire Rescue reported that the fire started at 2:40 p.m. in an enclosed conveyor belt that carries wood chips into the mill. It then spread to the sixth floor of the mill. Port Ludlow Fire & Rescue and North Kitsap Fire & Rescue also responded to the call for assistance.
The fire in the conveyor structure was put out at 3:16 p.m., and the one on the sixth floor was put out 15 minutes later.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
