Incident Description:
On September 28, 2021, KSCB reported a warehouse fire at a carbon black producer in Ulysses, Kansas.
The Grant County Fire Department was paged to the scene at 1:31 a.m. Upon arrival, they found the entire contents of the warehouse (approximately 200 pallets of carbon black) on fire and requested mutual aid from the Satanta Fire Department and the Stanton County Fire Departments.
The fire was very difficult to fight due to the fine carbon dust, but it was put out at approximately 3:00 pm after three fire attack lines were deployed.
All contents of the building were destroyed, but the structure was saved. Grant County EMS provided assistance to one firefighter at the scene.
