Incident Description:
On September 22, 2021, the Romsey Advertiser reported a grain dryer fire at a farm in East Wellow, UK.
Romsey, Totton and Eastleigh crews arrived at 1:39 p.m. on September 15.
An aerial ladder platform was used to fight the fire in the dryer unit as gas and temperature monitoring was performed, and the farmer worked to remove the grain from the silo.
The incident was handed off to the farmer for continued monitoring due to the number of hot spots remaining after the machinery was isolated and fuels removed.
Eight sets of breathing apparatus, two hose reels, one jet, and a dry powder extinguisher were used to put out the fire.
After a debriefing, crew members returned to their stations at 5:23 p.m.
The cause of the fire is unknown. No injuries were reported.
