Incident Description:
On July 17, 2020, the CBC reported a fire at a paper mill in Corner Brook, Newfoundland.
The mill’s emergency whistle began blaring around 11:30 p.m. as the fire started to flare up. Immediately before, firefighters at Corner Brook’s fire department saw the flames from the parking lot, which overlooks the mill. They headed down to help the mill’s on-site fire brigade put the fire out.
Corner Brook’s Deputy Fire Chief confirmed that a paper machine had caught fire. The majority of the fire was located near the roof.
No injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
