Incident Description:
On July 17, 2020, PressePortale reported a silo fire at a wood pellet facility in Freiburg, Germany.
The fire brigade came in response to a smoldering fire in the silo, but during the extinguishing effort, a flash fire and pressure wave left three firefighters injured. They were taken to the hospital to be treated for burn injuries and later released.
The response increased to five vehicles and around 30 emergency services personnel. The property damage was estimated to be in the six-digit range. A statement from the fire department confirmed that they were still extinguishing the smoldering fire in the system the following day.
