Description of Dust Explosion in Andujar, Spain:
Three people were injured in a dust explosion at an edible oils processing plant in Andujar, Spain on April 6, 2018. According to Euro Weekly, the injuries ranged from smoke inhalation to shock.
A storage silo filled with sunflower seeds was where the explosion initiated, sending debris such as sheets of metal shooting through the air.
Firefighters were able to put out the fire within just a couple of hours however a crane had to be brought on-site in order to remove some parts of the silo and prevent them from collapsing.
A preliminary investigation found that combustible dust in the silo had caused the explosion but no further details were made available.
